Games 2001 - 2003
animations
in 2001 I was just freshly under big impression of "Bugs Life". I
started to learn 3d Studio on DOS platform. Beside learning plugins for skinning cause there were no integrated within 3d Studio I managed to learn a bit how
to move character in Character Studio, so I applied with the movie. I captured my kitchen table for the scenery. I
have had used camera tracking algorithms which were crashing these days
when having more then 100 frames to calculate. I had to split
calculations into more then 20 parts and then bring together all of
these pieces of 20 camera movement ranges together. It's just to show
how the pioneers of 3d were desperate these days to fight against all
odds. Please don't comment the animation :) As I mentioned, these days I
only learned how to move the character's body parts, not how to animate:)
Underneath (Vimeo) my application movie from 2001, my first, ever done animation approach ( it's obvious when you look at it :) ... and around 20 gathered game animations done within the period of working in the company.
The animations below (Vimeo) are from the later period 2006 - 2007. They are also in " Filmography " area, but as it concerns similar subject as one above I placed it also here.
Having a basic knoweledge about moving cg characters on the base of captured footage I thought about implementing this technique in Laura's Stern production to achieve in a very quick way a good timing base, so the animators wouldn't have to start from the scratch. I did some tryouts with my kids. That was before MoCap systems started to cost cheaper and cheaper. Anyways it turned out that a quite cheap compromise of a MoCap system was available at the end, so we bought it.
